Drawing of the major design elements onto the Mary & Martha House landmark building in Ruskin, Florida began Friday evening, September 4th, after several weeks of process, design and plein air based workshops open to school age children through adults. The first painting team will begin initial work this Labor Day weekend.
Over 60 people attended the first two weeks of workshops with this year's artist-in-residence and director of the project, Josette Urso. A good number of participants are continuing into the next phase of the project.
The project is designed in phases that allow for a range of ways and time frames to participate. Check out the 2009 Mural link here--and the blog--for more information on the project and site. Work on the project will continue through September & October during THE BIG DRAW. Completion is expected early November.
